Dardanica Work and Travel USA is part of Dardanica Group, established on December 2006. Dardanica WAT is licensed by the Ministry of Trade and Industry as agency that arranges and organizes students from Kosovo universities to work and travel in the US during their summer vacations.

The aim of Dardanica Work and Travel is to offer Kosovo students cultural exchange and unforgettable experience in the Unites States. Everyone at Dardanica WAT has participated in this program several times and we believe that this experience gives us a unique value because we will share that experience with students interested in this program, giving us the ability to guarantee the best service.

Dardanica Work and Travel USA is established based on the values that for a student, it is very important to be exposed to new experiences while traveling and working without having to think about your tuition payments. This opportunity is offered through the Summer Work and Travel program. The registration process starts during the month of October and ends by April when the students take the visa (J1). After the visa is issued, students have about 2 months to get ready to travel to the US during June – September.

This is our 9th year of operation where every year has been better than the previous one and we thank deeply our students that have trusted us with our work and made us leaders in Kosovo market.

In order to be considered for the Work and Travel Program USA, candidates should:

• Be full-time students in one of the universities in Kosovo;
• Be between 18 – 28 years old;
• Be able to speak intermediary English;
• Have passport that is valid for at least 6 more months from the date the visa is received (Preferably, the passport should be valid until December 2016); and
• Have enough funds to cover expenses during the first weeks of the program in the US.

In order to be eligible for the Work and Travel USA Program, you must bring the following documents at Dardanica Work and Travel office:

• Proof of Student Status
• Transcript or certificate of grades
• Proof of English language knowledge (not obligatory, but prefered)
• A copy of passport
• A copy of Identification Card
• 2 passport photos
• Resume or CV in English language
• Filled out application form (PDF format)
• Other documents that you think can help you in the visa process such as real estate under your name, parents job contracts, proof of any other income, such as rental income from an apartment or shop, etc.
• Job offer from the US (for those that apply through Self Placed method)*

*For Self Placed students: Please, give your employer our job offer template to sign it for you. Visit our office or send as an email at info@dardanica.com to request the latest self-placed form.

After you are tested for the level of English Langage, you should get ready for the interview with the consulars of the American Embassy. We will help you to prepare as good as possible as we consider this interview to be the key for your success.

After you receive the confirmation from Dardanica Work and Travel, you should fill out the visa application form for which Dardanica staff will help you. All application forms can be filled-out in our office and we will help you for that.

Meantime, the DS 2019 form (a form which is issued by the sponsor and gives you the right to work in the US) will arrive in Kosovo where you will be notified immediately to come and sign it. You will also be notified for the exact date of the interview in the US Embassy.

Dardanica Work and Travel offers two programs:

Self-Placed: Under this program a student comes to work in a temporary job that the student has arranged by himself/herself.  This option offers you the possibility to choose the location and the job you like to have during the summer work and travel. You will be responsible to arrange everything with the employer. If you decide to choose this option you have to deliver a job offer to Dardanica Work and Travel USA together with your application form.

Job-Assisted: With additional fee paid to Dardanica Work and Travel USA you will be offered a job with accommodation during the job fair in Prishtina which will be held and organized by our sponsor from USA. If you choose this option, Dardanica Work and Travel USA will help you in arranging all the necessary documentation that you will need.

The program includes:

• J-1 working visa sponsorship (including DS form)
• 4 months of medical insurance
• Job placement (for job-assisted program)
• Help with documentation
• Transportation to the US Embassy for the interview (both ways)
• Interview preparation
• Complete orientation
• Student Program Handbook
• Program administration and supervision
• 24-hour emergency assistance

The Program does NOT include:

• Visa application fees at the U.S. Consulate/Embassy
• SEVIS fee
• Round trip airfare to the U.S.
• Airport transfers
• Transportation expenses
• Any daily living expenses including rent, utilities, furnishings, meals etc.
• Any union dues at the place of employment

During your work in the USA, most likely you will pay taxes, depending on location and state where you worked. The good news is that around 90% of your taxes can be refunded.

In the US, there are 5 types of taxs:

• Federal Tax,
• State Tax,
• City/Local Tax,
• Social Security, and
• Medicare.

For students who went in the US through the Work and Travel program and worked on J1 visa, in most of the cases,  you have paid only the first two taxes: Federal and State Taxes. As J1 student, you do not have to pay the rest of the taxes. In rare occasions, students have paid local taxes where they worked. If for any reason you have paid other taxes, you must contact your employer directly for a refund as it is much easier than through the tax back service

It may take 2 to 4 months for the refund process to be completed. The process of tax refund starts on January of every year

This is a list of documents that you need to bring in our office to start the process:

1. Your W2 Form (from each employer) – all employers are obliged to send W2 Form to their employees!
2. Last Paycheck- from each employer!
3. Copy of your Social Security Card
4. Copy of Passport
5. Copy of Visa
6. Copy of DS-2019 form (obligatory)
7. Copy of your I-94 form if available

* Either one: W2 form or Last Paycheck will be sufficient!

After you have prepared these documents, please come at Dardanica WAT office and apply for your refund.
